Final Version

After acceptance of the paper, the Editorial Office will ask for electronic files of text and figures of the corrected final version. Please consult the Technical Instructions below and provide all figures as separate EPS or TIFF files. These files have to be sent even if the article had been previously submitted electronically.

Manuscript Preparation

The material should be placed in the following order:

Running title (maximal 60 characters) - Title - Authors' names (e.g. Jan Baier, Tom F. Miller, and John F. Kelly) - Address of the correspondence author with fax number and e-mail address, and differing addresses of further authors. (The name and the address of each author should be linked by superscripts a, b, c...) - Dedication (if intended) - Abstract - Key words (up to three) - Main text - Acknowledgement (if wished) - List of references - Footnotes - Tables with captions - List of all figure legends - Figures.
Tables, equations, figures, and schemes are to be mentioned in the text in numerical order. They may be placed behind the above mentioned material or integrated on their places in the submitted file.
Abstract:
The abstract should be short, precise, and must be suitable for direct use by the abstracting journals (i.e. in particular without abbreviations and references related to the main text).
Main Text:
The main text should meet the highest standard as to novelty of the material, organization, and conciseness, and should be correct in grammar and style.
References and Footnotes:
Citations should be given in the text as (Adam and Becker, 1993) or (Grotjohann et al., 1993), and listed at the end of the paper in alphabetic order e.g. "Adam K.-P. and Becker H. (1993), Bisbibenzyl formation in aseptic cultures of Marchantia polymorpha L. Z. Naturforsch. 48c, 839-850." or "Grotjohann N., Schneider G., and Kowallik W. (1993), Different forms of...".
Illustrations:
Illustrations should, if possible, be designed for reduction to a one-column format (7.6 cm wide). They should be produced with a good quality laser printer and have lines, letters, numbers and symbols of uniform strength and contrast. Each figure has to be submitted on a separate sheet with the figure's number and the first author's name written in pencil on the back.
Scaling of Artwork:
For optimum reproduction, the illustrations should be larger than the desired final size. Authors should pay attention to the strength of lines, for some features (e.g. dotted and thin lines) may disappear after reduction. The other extreme, such as heavy lettering and thick lines, should be avoided. The final letter height is 1.5 - 2 mm.
Color Figures:
Additional cost for the reproduction of color figures in the print version must be paid by the authors. Details will be provided after acceptance of the manuscript.
Proofs:
The authors will receive page proofs. Please note that corrections should be restricted to typographical errors. Cost for extensive additional changes will be charged to the author.
Reprint Orders:
Please return the reprint order together with the corrected proofs. 25 reprints are free of charge, for additional reprints EUR 0.14 per page will be charged.
